CASE STUDY : Higurashi Garden

Insight

Higurashi Garden is a distinctive bakery and cultural hub in Tokyo’s Nishinippori district, blending a boulangerie-café with a bookstore. Since opening in 2016, it has earned recognition for its artisanal bread and pastries, thoughtfully designed architecture, and warm, inviting atmosphere within a residential neighborhood.

However, the current website could better reflect its identity as a bakery, café and cultural space, and offer a more seamless experience for visitors.

Challenge

How can Higurashi Garden’s website be redesigned to communicate it’s unique concept while improving usability for visitors ?

Understanding Higurashi Garden’s audience and deepening knowledge of the brand are essential first steps in the redesign process.

A review of the current website highlights opportunities to improve the user experience and guide the redesign process.

The redesign focuses on creating a clear site hierarchy, well-organized sections, and prominent CTAs to help users navigate the website.

The layout is designed to emphasize brand colors, engaging visuals, and illustrative elements that convey Higurashi Garden’s unique identity.

White space is incorporated to give the layout room to breathe.

The choice of a playful, rounded font like AB Kokoro_N3 helps convey a welcoming tone while aligning the design with Higurashi Garden's audience.

Naming the brand colors strengthens the brand’s identity and communicates its personality more clearly.

Through the creation of personalized illustrations representing Higurashi Garden’s offerings, the brand’s identity is strengthened and contributes to leave a lasting impression.

The website enhances usability through a clear section hierarchy, guides visitors in discovering Higurashi Garden’s unique concept, and reinforces its brand identity.

The design aims to provide an approachable and enjoyable navigation experience while increasing brand visibility for both new and returning visitors.
